What is your background?
I am a psychotherapist with a unique specialty in Ayahuasca. I have spend the last 12 years of my life dedicated to Ayahuasca as a healing modality and medicine path. This includes, facilitating ceremonies, preparing people to sit with the medicine, and integration work with clients who’ve had challenging experiences with Ayahuasca.
How do I best prepare for a first Ayahuasca Ceremony?
First, make sure it is safe for you to sit with Ayahuasca. There are very specific health risks and medication contraindications that are important to screen for before drinking Ayahuasca. Second, make sure you are following the guidelines, recommendations and restrictions that are part of the tradition and lineage that you will be participating in. Every ceremony setting has unique preparation practices but there are some common ones that most ceremony settings follow. Finally, spend a lot of time sitting with and getting clear on your intentions for the ceremony. Intentions have a big impact on your experiences with Ayahuasca and the more time you spend reflecting on them the better prepared you will be for the ceremony.
